Frequently asked questions

What's different from regular Go?

There are two floors, and the same point on each floor are neighbours. Capturing takes all five: four on the stone's floor and one on the other. Everything else is classic Go.

Why are there four stone colours?

Two-Layer Go is built on the harmony of yin and yang. On floor 1 Yang is white and Yin is black; on floor 2 Yang is deep red and Yin is blue. White and red are one side, black and blue the other.

Which board sizes are there?

9×9, 13×13 and 19×19. Start with 9×9.

Where do I get the app?

It's a web app for now. Open the Play page on your phone and choose “Add to Home Screen”. App Store and Google Play versions are in preparation.

Is it free?

Yes. AI games, two-player games and the tutorial are free.

Is there a token or coin?

We have published the plan and whitepaper for the M4A coin (8 billion in total, sale reference price US$1) on the Coin & NFT page. Nothing has been issued or sold yet; any sale will be announced only on this site, after legal review. Beware of anyone selling it in our name.

How do I ask about licensing?

Use the form on the Business page or the email below.
